Holiday Celebration

Norooz

Norooz is a celebration of the Persian New Year and marks the first day of Spring.  Many Iranian families around the world celebrate Norooz.  Families spread a table called a Haft-Seen, with important items that each have significant meaning in celebration of the new year. In Iran Norooz lasts for 12 days. Students don't go to school for 10 days. Imagine that!

In our kindergarten class, there are families that celebrate Norooz. Students were excited to create their Norooz painting. We painted the Hyacinth flower with a paintbrush and their fingers.

Holiday Celebrations

In March we continue to look at holiday celebrations around the world. Students have been doing an awesome job with craft representing different holidays.

Happy Holi

Holi is a Hindu spring festival that is celebrated mainly in Nepal and India. It is widely known as the Festival of Colours. This year Holi will be celebrated on Monday, March 13.

Magnet Magic for Little Explorers

The students in room 104 had a great afternoon with the Scientists in School team. They explored magnets in a variety of ways.

Valentine's Day Art

In Room 104 students worked really hard on their Valentine's Day craft. They made a butterfly from construction paper and painted a heart flower.

Students had so much fun creating their butterfly from chart paper, pipe cleaner, adding googly eyes and heart stickers.

100 Days in School

On February 13, we had our "100th Day in School" celebration. Students worked really hard to complete a number of tasks around the theme of 100. They were given the task to create a display using 100 items. These were awesome!

100 Days Activities

100 Tiny Fingers

We used different colour paints to stamp and display 100 tiny fingers! Great for counting by 5's. How cool!

100 Cups

Students stacked 100 cups to create their version of a playground. They worked as a team to get the job done!

Dabbed 100 Hearts

This activity was great for counting. Students dabbed their hearts and counted as many as they could. It also helped with one to one correspondence. 

Friendship Month

It is February and we are celebrating friendships. Throughout the month of February we will be focusing on what it means to be "bucket fillers".

Fairy Tale - Stone Soup

Midway through our fairy tale unit, we focused on teamwork as we combined ingredients to make soup. This was a great activity for students to experience the meaning of teamwork.
